Adrift Solitarily

   Adrift Solitarily

It’s not hard

to stack

cards

numerically

 (by color

and suit-

ed generic-

ally)

 into patterns

familiar and easily made

(heart, diamond, club, spade).

So much simpler indeed,

hypothetically,

than to choreograph

words

plumb poetically

creating a singular treasure

(something new and unique

beyond measure).

But unseemly, it seems

(and so lame)

this persistent insistence

in playing a game

(… and one more…

and one

and a score and one

almost pathetically

and unapologetically.

(I ought to be ashamed.)
