Here We Go Again

public domain photo - credits below

Here We Go Again

Pity
(pretty please)
this poor, pathetic boy
who (yet again)
cries “wolf!”
and alligator tears.

His fears,
somewhat abstract,
(some fanciful, some fact),
it’s clear what they’re about,
but my compassion’s
plumb wore out.

Conjurer’s In(can’t)ation - PAD Day 15

public domain photo - credits below

Conjurer’s In(can’t)ation

Just once
in your
melancholy life
I yearn
for you to have
a truly good day

where ‘good’ is defined,
prescribed by a plethora
of pleasant events –
colored by pure joy
(and not solely
the mere absence
of misery.)

You should know
this ephemeral magic
(at least once)before you die.
And then,
again
and again.

we all want
more

The Lingo of Love - PAD Day 3

The Lingo of Love

The language of love
isn’t always passionate,
isn’t always pretty
roses and posies;
but when it’s one
(without the other)
Love can turn pretty
ugly
in a heartbeat
words degrading
to desperate deeds.

I love(d) my husband
(wife, daughter, son,
nephew, friend)
but
 (there’s always a but)
he (she) said
(didn’t, wanted, needed)
and sooner or later
in the end
someone winds up hurt
(or missing or dead.)

We can’t ignore or overlook:
I love my job, (my school,
my boss, my teacher, my
neighbor) – the headlines
are littered with these; and
please,
pay particular attention,
when someone says
(with a passion that’s odd)
I love (my) country,
I love (my) god.

Before Social Media

Before Social Media

, I never knew
this angry you
(that screams)
inside your head.
Assumed instead
your thoughts
and mine in sync.
Rather, it seems,
we’re miles apart –
disparate halves
of wholly distant
hearts.
