Check, Mate - Nov PAD day 8

Check, Mate

It’s (not?) the end
of the world
as we know it;
though it feels
like a death
in the family,
the loss of a limb
or your only friend.

You know
the game isn’t over.
There is still
love
to be spent
(but it’s your)

move.

Mourning, Ablutions - Nov PAD day 7

Mourning, Ablutions

They’re doing it again
(still) spewing, spouting
nouns, verbs and invectives
(as if they weren’t infectious)
as though this sluice and slop
had no power to begin
(please, stop)
an execration epidemic.

‘Only words’, they say
(denying all li(e)-ability)
all the while heaving bile –
(muck they find amusing)
confusing humor with de-
basement, malice, degradation,
disseminating venom,
fracturing the nation.

I empathize the anger;
but while I share their fears
I sorely mourn these (un-)
civil activities;
I ache and rue that this
is what the world perceives
as half a nation gloats
while the other half grieves.

Shades of Meaning - Nov PAD day 6

Shades of Meaning

A woman
of few words

she
fears the power
that they wield
(knows all too well
the damage
they may do.)

She’s troubled
by the thought
that they might
come back
to haunt her
(and

she’s sore afraid
of ghosts too.)

Wireless - Nov PAD day 5

photo by PSC / Nov 2016

Wireless

Some might say
she’s wired
to the world.
No servers,
no apps (perhaps)
but without a doubt
the best connection
anywhere, by far
(bar none).

Consider the sun,
moon, stars,
mysteries whispered
far and wide
in wind and water,
clues concealed, revealed
in rustling leaves, ferns unfurling,
sacred secrets secured
in rocks and trees.

She’s so enthralled by it all –
colors, textures, scents, sound,
creatures – large and small,
trees, flowers – even bugs
and she’s hoping
that she never
comes unplugged.
