If she were a pond

photos by PSC

If she were a pond she’d be frozen;

cold, solid surface marked

scarred by strangers

skating over it,

difficult to see beneath;

chary, wary,

slow to open up,

 unwilling (or -able) to

crack that icy exterior,

expose the muck unseen, un-

detected, underneath
