She Slips In
She slips in silently,
unnoticed, unannounced,
cloaked in pewter pelisse.
We’ve been
waiting,
anticipating her advent
for weeks --
previsioning a grand entrance
emblazoned by birdsong and
blossoms,
but Spring
tiptoes in
today,
sans fanfare,
wearing a gray gown.
