Dis(Re)membered - Nov PAD day 27

Dis(Re)membered

Maybe you don’t recall
but we’ve been here before.

Separation. Fragmentation.
Shattered, scattered,
into distinct bits –
shivers, splinters, slivers,
chips.

The aftermath’s an ache –
a break – bone deep
and all too real
laden with the hope
that some fractures
must (first) be fully broken
in order to wholly
heal.

We’ll Leave the Light On - Nov PAD day 26

We’ll Leave the Light On

Some
name them family,
neighbors and friends; some
maybe strangers seeking refuge
from war torn neighborhoods,
bombed out hospital buildings,
but others call them uglier names,
threaten to toss them back
(like fish too small to keep).
Why share our bounty
with huddled yearning,
wretched refuse?
Why not just
extinguish
the lamp?

Some Mending Required - Nov PAD day 25

Some Mending Required

Gazing at the stars,
I gather we are not
so wholly broken
that a touch of tape,
some dabs of glue,
and a million
points of light
(carefully applied)
can’t fix us up
again.

Oh Yeah - Nov PAD day 24

Oh Yeah

there are worse things than
losing ground
but it often takes
a mile in another’s shoes
to realize this
and if you’re lucky
when you do
it’s not too late
‘cause there’s nothing worse
than
too late.

PSC 2016-11
