INSOMNIA

Insomnia

Midnight knelled
before bed was attempted.
One whanged
(seeming) hours later,
Two ticking off after that.

Three thrust itself in,
Four fretted fitfully,
Five waxing frantic.

Finally seduced
by fickle slumber
at 6:30,
then...
Seven
buzzed in
all too soon.

  1. What FANTASTIC verbs here, Pamela! I loves me some strong verbs, especially when donned by inanimate objects or concepts. These are so great. Knelled...ticking...thrust...fretted...waxing...seduced...buzzed. :)! Love it!

  2. Pam:-) perfect timing---I just had one of these nights-and you totally nailed that sense of dread as each hour lets itself be known...
