Meteor Showers
The year grows late, the season, chill.
Please, meet me by the garden gate
(after midnight – if you will).
The darkened sky, (light
gone truant, you’ll soon find,
pursuant to a new moon),
will form the perfect backdrop
for the treat I have in mind.
(If I’m late, please wait –
I’ll be there soon.)
La Lune may be lacking, but
the Geminids might join us
(barring inclement weather).
Mayhap, we’ll all bide ‘til dawn
and shower together.
Meteor showers are so much fun. Your poem captures the anticipation so well!
