Red-winged Blackbird (PAD - Day 1)

(NOTE: Photo credit appears below)

Red-winged Blackbird

Shrill trill slashes softer melodies

announcing his arrival;

Winter’s cold hold decried by the skirl.

I seek a peek of scarlet amid the rustling

remains of last autumn’s cattails.

Spring disembarks on red wings.
