Summer
Girl
The last
time I was here
she
appeared
out of
place:
dressed for the weather (not the season),
sporting
short sleeves, cotton, pastels –
a tropical
palm tree
plopped in
an autumn-glory forest.
I saw
her as awkward, uninformed,
out of
touch, but
kinder
eyes
might
see summer
in this
green girl.
