Prelude

Prelude

Bare limbs, black
abut sky
silent, still
until
palest pinks join in,
adagio, poco a poco,
accelerando,
stringendo,
lightening,
brightening
the perfect proem –
a prelude to sunrise:
Twilight heralds Dawn

Poem created for Robert Lee Brewer's 'Poetic Asides' Prompt: "An Announcement Poem"

Musical terms:
accelerando: accelerating; gradually increasing the tempo
adagio: at ease, play slowly
poco a poco: little by little
stringendo: gradually getting faster (literally, tightening, narrowing)
