Embowered (2016 April PAD - Day 9)

Embowered

This towering

arboreal bower

tenders refuge,

breathes a peaceful blessing,

descants sacred truths and

whispers musical murmurings

when breezes riffle through.

This secret haven,

(retreat of leaves)

offers sanctuary –

 a serene enduring lee

buffering me

from any and all

ill winds.

Though my duties

beg attendance

and my burdens

bid me leave,

still I’ll bide

a wee bit longer

and breathe.

Demagogue Blog (2016 April PAD - Day 8)

Demagogue Blog

She diddles in syllables,

dabbles with words,

puttering para-

graphs, adverbs & verbs;

and sometimes she seems

to be (me)

a panhandler

manhandling poetry.

She messes and monkeys

with crayons and paint,

and fribbles with photos.

An artist, she ain’t,

but

she’s fooling and fiddling

and finding her way

dawdling in minutes,

doodling days,

tinkering, trifling

with time and today

until it’s full-frittered,

and dribbles

away.

Urban Lonely (2016 April PAD - Day 7)

Urban Lonely

She’s stylish, she says,
ahead of the curve;
keeping up
with the times.
‘Tiny house living’
that’s what they call it
these days. Minimize
your footprint,
maximize function.

Her tiny apartment
houses just her
and her budgie –
a handsome fellow
she calls Blue.
Un-caged, he comes
and goes at will,
sometimes
spending hours
in Central Park
during the day.

She marvels, though,
that he always manages
to find his way back
to her cardboard box
under the railroad bridge.

At times,
she thinks she must be
his only friend
in the world.
