Cracked

Cracked

Winter, you crack me up!

Blues so swiftly shift to gray

within your syncopated day,

while your soft, white, fluffy stuff

quickly morphs to “quite enough!!!”

and your shortened sunlight hours

leave me longing for Spring’s flowers,

but...

Winter, your cracks are showing.

Days are warming, daylight lingers,

darkness slipping through my fingers.

Ice is cracking, heaving, buckling

Spring is winging, singing, chuckling.

Winter, you're a joy, it’s true,

but I have had enough

of you.
