Strangers’
Greetings
She
walks this trail often
in
musing introspection,
quiet
contemplation,
keeping
her own company,
ofttimes
encountering others
(wanderers
human and otherwise)
rambling,
scrambling along,
each
on their own separate route:
some
lagging behind,
others
barreling by,
still
others crossing paths
with
(always) a kind word,
friendly
gesture or cordial greeting
but,
in recent days
those
simple kindnesses
seem
ever so much
more
rare
and precious.
