Last night’s snow tells tales
of guests come calling while I slept
late and early, footprints –
(both familiar and un-)
crossing paths, skirting others,
some lead directly to my door
Sorry I am
to have missed them
(slumbering through their sojourn)
still I smile in the knowing,
trails revealed, every snowing
