A
Little Bird Told Me
You
never want to be
accused
of killing the goose
that
lays the golden eggs,
nor guilty
of killing two birds
with
one stone,
but
I promise
there’ll
be a chicken
in
every pot
when
the chickens
come
home to roost.
Whatever
you do,
don’t
count your chickens
before
your goose is cooked,
and
never put all your eggs
in
one salad.
A bird
in the hand is worth
two
pecks (sans bushel)
and I
haven’t got a clue
why
the (rubber) chicken
crossed
the road.
Your
guess
is
as good as mime.
