From Finale to Prelude
In late autumn,
as she gathers up
seeds and pods,
(plucking them
from the garden,
depositing them in
her pocket), she’s
building a nest egg,
stashing a cache,
making a vow,
a promise. Stepping
into December, she’s
already planning,
planting,
pledging
May.
