Exes and Wise
“The first time’s for love,
the second, for money”.
Years later she heard,
companionship came third.
She never did find out
what four (and more)
were supposed to be for.
Witnessing firsthand
that merry-go-round (the
tying & untying of knots,
picking up loose ends)
she determined she
didn’t need anyone else,
if she loved herself.
