First Impressions (2016 April PAD - Day 15)

First Impressions

He’d first spotted her

sitting a few stools away.

She was a rare bird – an oddity

he observed out of curiosity

as she mangled a paper clip

and molded origami figures

from the napkins at the bar.

She sported a ring

on every finger (except

the one that mattered)

and drank some froufrou

fruity cocktail concoction

from a coconut,

or a pineapple,

or some such

frivolous vessel

with an umbrella.

She was flat

and just a tad long

(in the tooth)

for his liking

with lavish lips

and hips,

a gaudy style,

and a decidedly (un-)

impressive smile. He was

certain she’d be blacklisted

from anyone’s

little black book,

but still,

there was something

about her

some (inexplicable) thing

that made him want

to get to know her

just the same.

    1. Thanks, Hannah! This was an odd bundle of words to pull together. But we all pulled it off, didn't we? :)
