Arsenic and Old Lace
(or: An apple a day keeps the doctor in
business)
What once was
so wholesome, basic
has become contaminated.
Cash waxed as nutrition waned.
Meddled with and mucked up over time
when money became the bigger prize.
Historically the healthy one, but
greed in the Garden of Eden
has left behind a legacy
of arsenic & lead.
