Canaries
Headlines depict the signs accruing.
Still, pernicious practices
persist,
heedlessness firmly adhered to.
Denial is all the rage; after all,
there’s no problem compla-
cent cash can’t fix – if
you’ve got enough
of the stuff,
(am I right?)
But,
some mess-
(ag)es were never
meant to be ignored.
Heed (please) this word
to the unwise – not you & I,
that is, but those (un-)cooperative
others: it’s past time to transmogrify
into coal miners, attune to
canaries’ quietude.
