If I were Quicker at Poetry

If I were quicker

at poetry

I’d pen a poem

or two 

or three

or four –

and maybe a dozen more –

then April wouldn’t be such a chore.

But I’m NOT quick;

I’m slow and wan.

(I have some days to catch up on.)

But if I were blank,

here’s what I’d do:

I’d post THIS poem 

and say, 

“I’m through!”

And so, “I’m through!”; that’s what I say.

(That is,

at least,

through yesterday.)
